What is a User ID?

What is a User-ID?

Your User ID is your personal log for the HFBK-SelfService. The ID consists of three letters and four numbers, for example: hka1234

Where do I get a User ID?

This depends on whether you work or study at the university. Automatically, you should receive an invitation to set up your account by email; provided you have given the student administration and/or the human resources department an email address.
If you are an external person - i.e. you are not enrolled as a student at the HFBK or you have an employment contract here - then you must contact the Department of Communication and Networking.

Help, I forgot my User-ID, what now?

Don't panic!
After setting up your account, HFBK-SelfService sent you an email with your ID. Simply search your email account for sender: eigenservice@hfbk-hamburg.de
If you cannot find this email, contact the Communications and Networking Department

I do nor like my User-ID

The identifier is assigned randomly by the system and – egalitarian as it is – it takes no account of the user's aesthetic preferences. Sorry that the random generator didn't roll the dice in your favour here.

Why am I a number and not a name?

You are not a number, you have a number. This is important so that others cannot directly deduce your identity from your user ID, otherwise your name and study status could unintentionally become visible to the outside world and become a security risk.
