What is the email server for incoming and outgoing emails?

E-Mail program settings

Mailboxes are named "firstname.lastname@hfbk-hamburg.de".

This corresponds in each case also to the login name at the IMAP or SMTP server.

The server addresses are as follows:

Incoming mail server / Receiving:

IMAP/SSL imap.hfbk.net

Port: 993, normal password

Outgoing mail server / Sending:

SMTP/SSL mx.hfbk-hamburg.de

Port: 465, normal password

The username corresponds to the complete email address in the form "firstname.lastname@hfbk-hamburg.de"

This email address can be used to send emails from within the university. For this, the entry of the above mentioned mail server (SMTP) is mandatory.

Sending emails from outside the university works via SMTP/SSL (port 465). For this purpose, the full email address must be entered for registration.

Retrieving emails (IMAP) from outside the university is only possible via an SSL-encrypted connection (port 993).
