Proceed as follows:
1. Connect Laptop
Connect your laptop to the smartboard using an HDMI cable (should be available). To do this, connect one end of the cable to the laptop’s HDMI output and the other end to one of the input sockets on the smartboard. If your laptop does not have an HDMI output, you will need to borrow a suitable adapter or request one from the IT department.
The HDMI input on the smartboard is labelled, for example, HDMI 3, as shown in the image below:
Please note: some active HDMI cables are directional. You can recognise these by the different labels on the HDMI connectors (e.g. Source and TV – in this case, connect TV to the smartboard and Source to the laptop).
2. Switch on the smartboard and select the source
If the smartboard is not already switched on, switch it on using the power button at the bottom right of the front panel (1). If it does not switch on, check that the mains cable is connected to the power supply.
Next, press the source selection button labelled (2) in the image above. A source selection window should now appear on the screen:
Here, select the input you are using. If you have used the HDMI 3 input as described above, select it by pressing the rectangle labelled HDMI 3 with either the stylus or your hand.
3. Finally
Your laptop should now be connected to the smartboard. If this is not the case, it is usually due to one of two things:\
- Your laptop is not configured to display content on the external display
- The HDMI cable is faulty
The first case can be resolved by changing the settings; for the second, you will need to report the fault and request a new cable.
